The Palmetto School serves children in York County and throughout South Carolina who are victims of abuse, neglect, abandonment or abject poverty. This unique and empowering school provides a protective and nurturing educational experience for K-8th grade students.

The Palmetto School at the Children’s Attention Home was created 12 years ago to help children in traumatic situations. Many of our students live at the Children’s Attention Home, a residential group home for children who have been placed in the custody of the Department of Social Services. The Palmetto School also serves children from Safe Passage, Pilgrims’ Inn and impoverished areas of our community. The school is designed to meet the individual needs of every child that attends. Not only does the school provide the most current researched based instruction, it also provides a learning environment that helps students to improve academically, socially and to become productive citizens of this great country.

The thought of child abuse, neglect and poverty is a painful one but rather than be overwhelmed by sorrow, let the extraordinary examples set by those who dedicate themselves to educating the most vulnerable in our midst empower us to make a difference.

The Taste of Fort Mill is a charity fundraiser showcasing local culinary entrepreneurs through the support of area businesses and with an all-volunteer committee dedicated to hosting an inspiring and fun event while maximizing profits for children at The Palmetto School.
